Why 27k1 deploys MSIX technology and not EXE (MSI)
- 27k1 has a 100% software installation success rate on highly secure organizational networks. This explains why 27k1 deploys MSIX applications, not EXE apps.
- MSIX apps are sandboxed meaning that third-party applications cannot break 27k1 software.
- MSIX perform in-app delta updates which are smaller and faster than EXE updates. EXE updates require a manual download of the full ~550mb installer which must be manually installed.
- MSIX installs are segregated and don't rely on the registry or special filesystem locations meaning an uninstall always leaves you in a clean state. Installation and app data paths are cleaned on uninstall. EXE cannot guarantee a full uninstall.
- MSIX requires a digital signature. This means any MSIX from 27k1 is guaranteed to be from 27k1 and only 27k1. EXE does not require a digital signature.
To conclude, MSIX technology is currently the most advanced and secure method of deploying the latest Windows applications.

MSIX Installation Troubleshooting Guide
Make sure you have the correct version of Windows
Before installing the 27k1 RMS software, please make sure that you’re using a supported operating system. 27k1 RMS will only install and run on Windows 11 & Windows 10 May 2020 Update (2004, 20H1, build 19041) or later, and requires a 64-bit CPU to install and run.
If you are trying to install the software on any unsupported Windows operating system, you may encounter the following error codes:

If you’re unable to open the MSIX file and you’re getting the error ‘App Installer failed to install package dependencies…’

Once you have done this, try installing the 27k1 RMS again.
